System Shut Down Unexpectedly – Possible Reasons Identified
Hello, I have been facing an issue with my PC which I only built this Feb 2024. The pc was running fine for several months until about October when I began experiencing random shut downs. Sometimes the system will stay up for 1 day, sometimes 3 to 5 days with no real pattern I can discern. The system components are as follows. Windows 11 Nvidia 4090 Intel i9 14900k MSI MEG ACE Z790 MB ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 420 AIO cooler G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series (Intel XMP 3.0) DDR5 RAM 96GB (2x48GB) 6400MT/s CL32-39-39-102 be quiet! Dark Power Pro 13 1600W Power Supply 2x Samsung 990 PRO SSD 4tb Sysnative file here that is https://we.tl/t-QYoqT1cSfZ . Here is the most recent Event log https://we.tl/t-PsUCiz3t6S I cant find any dump logs on my pc. A search yielded 0 results for .dmp or minidump, or %SystemRoot%\Minidump\ During testing with Prime95 the max spike temp was 96ºC my AIO seems to be able to handle the temps. Things I've tried: *Ran a MemTest 86 report which passed. *I've run Samsung Magician to test both of my SSD's for every diagnostic option available in that software and they came back ok. *I've reseated my RAM sticks. And swapped their positions with one another. *I've eliminated my surge protector outlet by plugging the machine directly into the wall. *I've recently cleaned the machine with a DataVac, and suction vacuum. .I'm assuming I didn't fry anything or backfeed power into the components seeing as the machine will boot and stay on for a random period of time between 1-5 days. *Looked at my admin report for critical errors and did a bit of googling because much of the information contained in those reports go over my head, (this lead me to do the aforementioned troubleshooting). *I've updated my BIOS to the latest version 7D86v1D. * I've changed the CPU Lite Load setting in BIOS to a reasonable mode that suggests stability through a 2 hour Prime95 test yet the system rebooted to BIOS overnight sometime. If anyone can help or suggest a place to look for troubleshooting I'd appreciate your input. TIA
I haven’t eliminated the chance of a bad power supply unit, especially given the Kernel-Power warnings in the event log. Without another source of power, I’m limited unless I buy one. Are there alternative diagnostics you could run to check if the PSU is the culprit? The unit was bought on January 12th, 2024, so it’s still fairly new. Even fresh units can have issues. If I pursued an RMA, what proof would I need and how should I present it to confirm the PSU’s fault?
