I began tidying up my desktop, removing large png files around 2kb. The bin folder progress slowed down noticeably, lasting about 3 to 6 seconds before completion. Creating folders also felt sluggish, and certain applications took longer than usual. I’m unsure what caused the delay besides Windows updates.

Find the images stored on your desktop? Review your SMART data for your SSD. Is Windows running on your SSD? Perform a performance check and compare the outcomes with online benchmarks. Look into your event manager for any issues.

The PNG file is located on your desktop. You can verify the smart feature by checking the system properties or Event Viewer, ensuring no unusual warnings appear despite potential issues in Windows 10.

All SSD and HDD manufacturers provide software solutions. The Samsung expert suggests checking for errors, critical failures, or unknown issues.

all indications suggest it's fine in the smart tab, though the trim option I enabled two years ago remains active. I haven't adjusted it recently, so I'm unsure if turning it off would help. The event viewer shows some issues, but nothing critical appears to be affecting me.

I'm not sure about that choice. How many antivirus programs are you using? I'm still getting the hang of things. A slow feeling doesn't always mean a problem exists. You might want to reinstall your system or try this: Click Start, type CMD in the search bar, right-click CMD.exe and choose Run as Administrator. Follow the UAC prompt by clicking Yes. Then enter SFC /scannow in the command prompt and press Enter. This tool verifies the Windows files and fixes any issues.
