EDIT APRIL 5 TH 2022: Previously, I chose to take apart my whole system, cut all the cables, and even swap out my CPU. After doing that, I left my PC without the back panel, thinking the cleaning would be pointless and that a new power supply might be needed soon. It’s been nearly five days since no reboots have occurred. I’m not sure what caused it, but the old, solid reassembly seems to have resolved the issue. I’ll update you if it powers back up again. My main guesses are: a short circuit from SATA cables touching the motherboard accidentally when the back panel was on; the PSU getting warm from dust on its fan; a faulty cable connection; or dust interfering with some connections.

System specs: CPU – Ryzen 5 1600, GPU – Asus Strix GTX 1080 (ROG-STRIX-GTX1080-A8G-GAMING), RAM – VENGEANCE LPX 16GB (2x8GB), DDR4 2400mhz, Motherboard – Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming, BIOS F52e, PSU – Thermaltake Smart 650w 80 Plus Bronze, SSDs – WD Green SATA 240GB (CrystalDisk health: 57%), KINGSTON 480GB SATA (health: 100%), HDD – WD Blue 1TB (7200rpm), Seagate Barracuda 2TB (7200rpm). OS – Windows 10 x64, build 19044. Additional gear: gaming keyboard, Innalambric mouse, Presonus audio interface, Xbox controllers, multiple USB devices.

Note: The oldest part is the PSU, which has been in use for about seven years.

Hello, dear community, I hope everything is going well. As mentioned, a few months back my PC began restarting unexpectedly, without any warnings or error alerts. It won’t shut down and usually happens during light tasks like working on Excel, streaming Spotify, or watching YouTube videos. I’m not entirely sure it happened during gaming. What steps did I try? I swapped both memory sticks to different slots, reinstalled Windows, updated drivers, updated BIOS, and even disconnected the reboot button on the chassis. I also checked temperatures – they’re within normal ranges. I’m unsure what else to do before considering a new PSU. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks very much! Simulate stress tests using tools like Prime95 SmallFTT, Unigine Heaven, or FurMark. If it crashes, you'll identify the issue with the power supply or overheating. Unplugged the reset switch, but what about the power switch?

I’ll perform the stress test. Should I run them together or just one at a time? I’ll also check the power button.

It's a simultaneous PSU check along with CPU and GPU evaluations. My concern is the weak health of your operating system drive. Does Hard Disk Sentinel provide any insights on this?

Hello, your half-hour run completed successfully with no interruptions or temperature problems. Below are the HWMonitor images from after the stress test, showing data logged during the test and the HD Sentinel capture.

Hello. I’m not sure about the steps to check in the event viewer after a reboot. Could you clarify what you’re seeing?

It was terrible when it first came out. Still, I had to go through it.

The temperature reading of 95°C on the CPU isn’t alarming, but it might be a contributing factor to the restart. The Windows Realiability Monitor will provide details about system health and potential issues.
