I just completed a fresh build and am still getting used to assembling PCs. This is my third one, and here are the components: ASUS ROG STRIX B450-I (BIOS 3004), RYZEN 7 3700X, 8-core G.SKILL Trident Z RGB DDR4 3600, ZOTAC GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER MINI, 8GB Corsair Force MP510 M.2, 1920GB PCI-Express 3.0 x4, NZXT C750 power supply, 80Gold BIOS. I kept DOCP enabled and found the system stable at 3603MHz. After adjusting to that frequency, it ran smoothly during benchmarks and without crashes. When playing games like CoD Warfare or Fortnite, it would randomly restart after about 20 or 30 minutes without any BSOD, and all lights stayed on. I noticed this was due to the RAM speed—when I turned off DOCP (default is 2133), I could play for hours without rebooting. Need advice on fixing the gaming instability.

Refresh CMOS, update BIOS, configure SOC to 1.1 and DRAM to 1.35. Function operates correctly? Is it a quad stick or dual setup?

My Mobo supports only two, but I don’t have an upgraded CPU to refresh the BIOS. Should I skip that step or look for a used one instead?

You don’t have to use a newer chip; your processor is compatible with the existing BIOS version. Updating is straightforward.

I understand but it's unclear if resetting CMOS clears the BIOS. If yes, I'll need to do it since my motherboard came with an outdated BIOS and I had to upgrade to version 3004 (latest available) to support the 3700x CPU. The update was unfortunately done on a sold machine.

This action will clear the BIOS configuration. The system will not return to the previous version of the BIOS.

Nope it only resets the settings, in case of a bad CPU/RAM OC for example.

Configure the device with version 1.1 and a resolution of 1.35, then execute xmp.
