Hi. I just upgraded my RAM from 2x8 GB at 2666 MHz to 2x16 GB at 36 GB with 3600 MHz processors. My system runs on an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 X Pro and the motherboard supports it. I’m experiencing random reboots after turning on the PC, usually right after powering up. I’ve enabled XMP in BIOS and manually lowered the RAM speed during reboots. Now I’m down to 3200 MHz. Could there be an issue with the new RAM? Thanks for your help.
Consider loading default settings in the BIOS, then check your RAM performance. It might mean your 3600x can't handle anything above 3200MHz. XMP or EXPO is an overclock for RAM, and if your processor isn't strong enough, you'll struggle with speeds beyond the specified limits.
Which RAM model fits? Some perform poorly with Ryzens, such as Corsair Vengeance. Consider reducing the clock speed to 3200MT.
It's the corsair vengeance. Now it's working at 3200, but if it keeps rebooting, I'll adjust xmp off.
Just to confirm, are you using slots 2 and 4 for your sticks?
You can explore the manufacturer's website to see if your modules appear in the compatibility section. Their list indicates whether a combination is approved; being listed means the manufacturer has verified it and any issues likely relate to the BIOS. Certain BIOS versions may improve memory support, so ensure you have the latest update. I don’t know your exact mainboard, but this example uses MSI’s model.
