System restarts each time after power-off
Only two pins are available for the clear CMOS chip, which is why the jumper isn't included.
So basically, the battery should work best. You've likely already explored other options without much success.
Received the latest CMOS battery today; planning to power down the system this evening and hoping everything works smoothly
It looks like swapping the CMOS battery resolved the issue, and the system started up without problems while the BIOS remained intact.
I completed a few more tests by flipping my system on and off overnight to check if the BIOS would reset. In both cases, the BIOS reset itself. The only variation was the boot speed—one was fast, the other wasn’t. Both had XMP and virtualization turned on. A key point stuck with me: the PCIe configuration and the impact of dual M.2 drives on startup. For my next attempt, I adjusted the PCIe settings to Slots 1x8/2x4 Gen 3, hoping that would fix it. Another positive change was switching the battery, which eliminated the need to remap network drives. Personally, I think the system feels noticeably smoother now after using Gen 3.
Sorry to hear that the new setting didn’t work. I’ll need to explore other options.
I recall this being an old discussion, but after facing the same issue for two days without online solutions, I decided to share my approach. The problem was with the RAM—just check its status. Swapping it out helped me. You might also experiment with different slots or exchanging the sticks.
interesting, but logic. if it has an issue with ram it will retrain also reset on some boards. for the bios battery, new they should measure 3.3v on a multimeter if you have one.. below 3v they will probably fail, but your board is so new it should last another 3 years atleast.. usually
