Hey! (Do we use greetings in these forums?) My computer is shutting down unexpectedly without any errors or blue screen. It just restarts and restarts again. It seems important to note that during this process the fans stop but the lights stay on, meaning it doesn’t lose all power completely. This has occurred a few times while I was compiling code and playing LoL. It’s never happened before and started three days ago. I updated my drivers, but that didn’t fix it. I thought a faulty PSU might be the issue, but running Cinebench didn’t confirm it. What I found is that my CPU is performing poorly—my Ryzen 5 3600 should score over 9000 with multiple cores, but it only has 4962. My single-core score is even lower at 862 (instead of 1288). I haven’t overclocked anything. The CPU temperature is consistently above 90°C, which could point to a cooling problem. I’m not sure what to do next or what to check; maybe the CPU itself is the problem? I’ve attached my specs and the HWMonitor data while running Cinebench. Oh, and my PC crashed while writing this post—CPU was idling, at least under light load. I managed to save the HWMonitor report 5 seconds before it crashed, which might help... It could be the PSU failing. Even though the ratings look low, the issue might actually be with the power supply unit.

I’ll likely need to switch to a different power supply unit. Could the faulty PSU be the reason your CPU stays above 90°C, or are they separate issues?

CPU temperatures above 90°C indicate an issue. It could be linked to other factors. Often, problems like a GPU voltage regulator failure trigger the PSU to shut down. A PSU typically doesn’t just trip on its own; something else is likely causing it.

Start by analyzing the symptoms carefully. Look for patterns or triggers. Gather relevant data before making assumptions. This helps narrow down potential causes effectively.
