I own an old HP Pavillion P6000 and recently installed an AMD Phenom II X4 955. I remember they were compatible, but now the system shows unsupported. It’s a beginner level for me, so please give me a chance to explain.

I think it's a FOXCONN 2AA9.

You're using the 125W Phenom II 955 model (C2 stepping). The board only accepts chips rated at 95W or less.

It's frustrating when expectations aren't met. I'm looking for alternatives that maintain similar performance without compromising compatibility. You mentioned an AMD Athlon II X2 220 in a Pavilion, and you're considering the Phenom II 955 as a possible upgrade.

If your CPU uses C3 stepping without a BE signal, consider updating the BIOS.

It seems you're unsure about something. Could you clarify what you mean?

Indicates that a CPU from a BE or Black Edition won't work with the board. A non-BE CPU could be supported, though a BIOS flash might be required (information not readily available).

Good details are available on the board page. The link provided points to information about the HP 605561-001 Alpine G8 motherboard. No updates are required to accommodate all 95W Phenom II chips, such as the Phenom II X6 1035T, but not the 1100T.

There’s no method to enable a 125w processor on the board directly.
