At first, my computer ran smoothly with the 256GB RAM, as I recall expanding a Unreal project to test if it handled over 128GB. Now my recollection is different: roughly half is reserved for hardware, possibly hinting the issue began after switching from Windows 10 to 11 last week (and reinstalling). In BIOS I only adjust XMP settings to boost speed, but turning it off doesn’t help. I’ve gone through numerous guides suggesting ways to free up space or fix hardware limits, yet my motherboard’s memory list still shows the RAM isn’t recognized—though some similar models from Corsair appear unaffected. I’m concerned because the exact model isn’t showing up in any supported slots, even though others work. The OS is Windows 11 Home, 64-bit, AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960X, running at 46°C with Castle Peak 7nm tech. RAM specs: 256GB DDR4 1600MHz. I’m using a Gigabyte TRX40 AORUS XTREME graphics card and an ASUS RTX 3090. No optical drives detected, audio via PC-USB shows up correctly in Speccy. Memory details look normal except for the unresponsive slot.
