I recently installed my latest processor, the 3700x, and during gameplay, I’ve observed that my central processing unit is consistently running at approximately 60% capacity. As I’m relatively new to this, I'm uncertain whether this level of activity is typical.

You may not experience complete utilization of your processor’s numerous threads in many games, particularly when paired with a GTX 970 and facing GPU limitations.

Could you provide a complete hardware specification? Also, could you share your graphics card utilization and the game's settings at what resolution you are playing?

The operating system is Windows 10. The processor is a 3700x running at its default speed. Memory consists of 16GB, configured in two 8GB modules with a latency of 3600 at timings 16-19-19-39. The graphics card, an EVGA 970, is consistently utilized at near full capacity (around 90-100%). The game being played is Rainbow Six Siege, running at a resolution of 1080p.

I suspect the GTX 970 will be fully utilized.

It’s improbable that you'll achieve complete resource utilization on most games using a processor boasting numerous threads, particularly when paired with a GTX 970, which will likely be limited by its graphics card.

While a 60% processor usage seems high, it's still potentially acceptable considering you’re experiencing GPU limitations.

Very typical.
My processing unit is constrained, and I observe minimal CPU activity while playing games.

That’s satisfactory. Because my graphics processing unit is currently limited, I anticipated that the processor utilization would be significantly less.

When monitoring processor activity during online gaming (particularly with multiplayer or heavily populated servers), the CPU’s processing power is largely dedicated to handling game logic and player interactions. To gain a more accurate picture, compare usage during a single-player experience (or ideally, a benchmark test if available).
