I have an Asrock Z77 Extreme4 equipped with a core i5-2500K. When I press the power button, it starts up but then powers off right away. I've switched out the power supply and CPU without any changes, yet the issue persists.

Hello there! I'm new to this platform—just started recently. Do you have been using it for a while, or is this your first time? If you're on a GPU, consider switching to an iGPU. Have you tried changing the RAM type or installed it in different slots?

It was part of a custom-built unit from around 2012 that I discovered on the roadside. I've swapped out different RAM modules and removed the GPU. The board is now exposed in a test setup. It began acting this way after leaving it overnight while applying several updates.

It looked quite messy and damp when you picked it up from the roadside. It seems the board likely failed, which is why it ended up there. I’d consider replacing the RAM instead.

It seems you were attempting to assist with troubleshooting. You mentioned it might be turning off only after booting, possibly due to driver issues during updates. I recall handling a similar situation, and updating the system resolved the problem.

It was quite messy, but I cleaned it well and it started working on its own after sleeping. If it doesn’t turn back on, it’s not a major issue, though it would be nice. If RAM was the issue, it might fail to boot instead of powering up.
