System powers off unexpectedly without warning.
Hello, I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my PC. It hasn't changed much recently, but it suddenly shut down six times now—four times while gaming and twice while browsing. After updating the graphics drivers, it worked for a while, but then it happened again three more times today. At first, I thought it might be related to the game Victoria 3 since I'd been playing without issues for days. A forum suggested others had similar issues, and the update helped. My PSU is new, and I've checked temperatures with HWmonitor, but nothing looks wrong. The case and fans still run briefly before powering off completely. It's been several years since the last hardware change, and this is the first time it's happened this way. The system would restart itself after a few seconds, sometimes not at all. I also noticed the BIOS version is outdated, but it hasn't caused any problems before. I haven't seen a recent Windows update, and I'm unsure what might be causing this sudden shutdown pattern. I need some guidance on how to diagnose it better.
It seems to be unique to this game, Victoria 3. Another player reported the same problem yesterday, and there are many searches on Google and YouTube suggesting it might be related.
Initially I believed that, but the final two events occurred without the game functioning.
Identify the RAM brand and model. Ensure the motherboard BIOS is current for optimal compatibility. Updates in AMD BIOS can resolve many issues, including problems with Windows and other programs. An outdated BIOS may cause instability if you're using a newer operating system.
Thanks for your response. I reviewed the event viewer and noticed only errors and critical issues, both noting an unexpected shutdown. This seems to relate to the crash you mentioned around 15:20. At that time there were several WHEA warnings pointing to different PCIe addresses. I’m not sure if the system actually crashed at that moment. I also see similar warnings in the list when I powered on my computer recently, but it didn’t fail. I’m unclear about what this means. I plan to update my BIOS now and will keep you informed. Update: After updating the BIOS, I explored further in the event viewer and found many errors related to Corsair services terminating. This doesn’t occur with every crash, and I’m almost certain it’s connected to the software from my keyboard. I also have a Corsair PSU, so I thought it might be worth mentioning.
Well, nice to not be the only one I guess? I updated the bios yesterday, and it hasn't happened again since then (couple of hours of PC use). No concrete proof that it's fixed, but fingers crossed. Hopefully it helps you too.
