System powers off and then restarts automatically.
Hello everyone, thank you for your patience. I’ve renewed the old question and will try to guide you to the correct solution. Regarding the issue, your PC restarts unexpectedly when you attempt to shut it down from the start menu. It usually takes 15 to 25 tries, but sometimes it doesn’t restart even after repeated attempts. You mentioned using commands from a previous suggestion, which helped the system shut down normally. However, problems reappear within a day or a few hours later. I’ve watched many YouTube videos and followed instructions, yet the issue persists. I believe this might be related to power management settings in the system. I’m finding it difficult to resolve and it’s becoming increasingly frustrating. My PC is only two years old and wasn’t expensive, which adds to my frustration. Do you have anyone experiencing similar problems? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Before proceeding, ensure your Windows system is fully repaired using both sfc and DISM until no corruption appears. Once confirmed, check your BIOS settings for Wake On PCIe and related wake options. Also, verify in Device Manager that devices like network cards have the necessary wake features enabled.
Thank you for the response. I've rechecked sfc, DISM, and Chkdsk; attached photos show no errors. BIOS was verified and nothing is set to wake up the PC. It normally powers off after checking those options, but during a COD session I reset once when shutting down—still only once, not repeatedly.
Consider several possible causes to rule them out. Following our earlier guidance, we still need to verify certain Windows configurations. Start by launching Device Manager, then expand Network Adapters and choose your Ethernet adapter. In properties, switch to the Power Management section, uncheck the option that allows the device to wake the computer, and click OK. If needed, repeat these actions for Wireless NICs. For USB devices, check Root Hubs, generic hubs, and Intel-based system components. Also inspect Human Interface Devices like keyboards and mice. This approach is a trial-and-error method, but it helps narrow down the likely source.
I've tried this process for my network adapters before, but it didn't work. You may need to inspect other system components and user interfaces as suggested. I'll update you tomorrow with the results and let you know if it helps. Thank you for your patience and support.
Alright… I’ve cleared everything for HID, keyboards and mice, verified the network adapters—none were ticked—and checked all possible system devices and USB controllers as well. Everything was unticked initially. After that, I restarted after playing games, rather than shutting down completely…
