Hey everyone, I'm experiencing some headaches after upgrading my 1060 with 6GB RAM to a used RX 6600. Most games cause my PC to shut down unexpectedly. My MSI afterburner shows CPU and GPU temps staying below 70°C (160°F). I’m worried the GPU might be faulty, especially since this used model often overheats at lower settings. The PSU is a 650W modular unit I got for free from a friend—maybe it’s the issue there. It feels like a mistake buying it, as I’ve already spent all my money on this build. I’m really frustrated and don’t want to waste £160 on what seems like a broken component. Here are the specs: CPU – Ryzen 5 3600, GPU – RX 6600, 8GB RAM, Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz, motherboard Asrock A320M HDV R3, power supply Enermax Infiniti 650W. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

PC stops working abruptly, not due to a blue screen, but likely because of a power supply problem. Even though the system handles 650 watts well, components degrade over time and may fail to deliver full power, triggering safety measures that shut it down. Before purchasing a replacement, check if friends or acquaintances have a spare unit you can test. Units rated at 450 watts or above should work reliably.

Consider reducing clock speeds or limiting power for the 6600. Also, adjust the PCI-E generation setting to 3 in the BIOS.

These Enermax models often feature multiple rail connections that may hinder GPU performance. Considering their age, it seems likely the power supply unit is the issue.

Thanks for asking! I'm checking how well these Corsair CX600 models perform in real use.

The CX600 has been discontinued for a while, so any used units will be getting on in age. If you can save 40 pounds or so, I'd recommend getting a used newer unit like the Corsair TX550M. There are some on eBay for £40 with free delivery. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/365422759031?...aj6&itmprp For a used power supply, I'd look for units that are 80+ Gold rated like Corsair TX, RM; EVGA G3, GT; BeQuiet gold units; SuperFlower gold units; Seasonic gold units. There are others but these are brands and models I am familiar with.
