Temperatures are improving somewhat, though the 35°C difference between average and hotspot remains significant. With the 6600Xt, expect an average of 65-70°C and a hotspot around 80°C. Confirm the paste is applied uniformly across the entire die. Don't worry if it slightly compresses or shifts from side to side—it's non-conductive. Which paste did you use? Arctic's MX-4 and MX-6 provide excellent results for GPUs without overspending on premium options. Also verify your pad placement and ensure it doesn't create a bulge. When reinstalling the cooler on the GPU, did you follow a cross-pattern or tighten each screw individually? Also, what method did you use to spread the thermal paste?

Applying thermal paste to a GPU is no longer necessary, just like it isn't needed on a CPU.

I installed Corsair's TM30 across the entire die using a crisscross layout. The pads felt firm with a bit of give. After renaming them, the hotspot temperatures remained at 100°C.

You don't need to be concerned if it reaches around 101 hotspot during a very demanding task. The average GPU temperature stays near 70°C.
