System power-off upon applying high GPU load
Hey there! I'm dealing with an ECS H81H3-M4 board paired with an Intel i5-4590 and an AMD Radeon R7 240. It's a budget build, and I recently upgraded the power supply to a second-hand Corsair VS650 650W unit. Despite that, the system still powers off when the graphics card is under heavy load. I checked my 400W PSU and thought it might be too weak, so I went for the used Corsair model with its warranty label intact. Still, the issue persists.
I've tried several fixes: running MemTest86+, stressing the CPU with Prime95 (it handled up to 90W), adjusting BIOS undervolting, but nothing worked. The graphics card itself is fine on my older build (Intel H55M chipset, i5-520). The main problem seems to be that the motherboard freezes or hangs when I try to reset or reboot after saving BIOS settings.
Any suggestions on what might be wrong or how to resolve this? Thanks!
I worked on cleaning the socket pins—some bent a bit, which made me think I might have broken it but fixed it. Then I saw the CPU slightly bent near the edges and noticed a crack on the PCB. That’s not a good situation. The pins themselves are solid.
The processor is damaged, so I purchased the motherboard along with it from someone, and I need to exchange both items.
This useful page I discovered while searching for LGA pin configurations. https://sector.biz.ua/docs/lga-775-1150-...outs.phtml
