System power-off triggers BIOS reinitialization
The new PSU fixed my issue. The 6950XT was consuming too much power, causing the overcurrent protection on my 850-watt PSU to trip. One advantage of the 6950XT (the AMD model) is its compact size, allowing me to add a few more intake fans. I'm using 120mm Noctua high-pressure fans on the AIO, while the NZXY units are 140mm out-of-box. During games, the 6950XT still runs at 80% or higher without throttling. I opted for a refurbished PSU for $140. The 90-day warranty isn't ideal, but I'm close to a microcenter and replacing it shouldn't be too much trouble if needed. Thanks for your assistance!
The PSU issue stemmed from insufficient power output. The AMD reference cards look appealing. Micro Center’s extended warranty is reasonable given my experience with defective products. I’d have preferred buying it for my 6900XT, as I’ve faced odd crashes in games rather than synthetic tests. I had to file a return with ASUS, who deemed it faulty and sent a replacement.
I wish they had included 6900XT instead of 6950XT in the pre-Black Friday bundles on AMD's site. I don't really need the extra heat and power for just a couple more frames. Are the temperatures above 90 in-game? Even with my new fan setup, it's still getting too hot according to the monitor in MW2. I think it's probably hitting its peak temperature. My 3070 never got too hot, so I'm not used to these extremely hot cards. I might need to write AMD to ask what they expect.
I've noticed my 6900XT temps hovering near around 73°C. With the BF2402 it's roughly 69-70°C. The RX6900XT usually pulls about 272W, and if I turn on Auto OC in Adrenaline, it should reach around 280W or more. So the difference isn't huge, and I stick to the default settings. My card comes with an aftermarket cooler that performs better than the standard AMD models.
