Since installing my RX 9070 XT, my computer has experienced unexpected shutdowns. It usually happens when starting games like Fortnite or even before the Windows boot completes, without any BSOD. Initially, I assumed the power supply was the problem, so I upgraded to a 850W unit, but the issue persisted. I later suspected the graphics card itself, but it functions normally on another machine running GTA and Fortnite. There were also shutdowns when no GPU was installed, and my CPU temperatures were high before. An AIO cooler resolved the heat issues, yet shutdowns still occur after reinstalling the 9070 XT. When I replaced my old RTX 2070, everything worked smoothly for stress testing. Presently, it seems the system is unstable with this model, despite the GPU being fine elsewhere. Possible causes point to BIOS/PCIe Gen problems or instability in the single-stick DDR5 setup on my B650 + 7800X3D board.

No, I didn't run DDU prior to installing the 9070.

Updating the BIOS is usually the initial step to try. What power rating does your computer's power supply have? Ensure all connections are secure. It seems the PSU might still be the issue—since you just purchased a new one, I’d exchange it for a refund and get a better model if needed. If that doesn’t resolve it, you can always request a refund.

I’ve used several specific power supplies. Some may not provide enough capacity on their +12V rails despite meeting the minimum wattage requirements. The 9070 XT can handle nearly double the power compared to your 2070. What model does your brother’s PC use? You could test it directly on the motherboard and CPU.

The specific PSU model would also be beneficial.

Psus included both A750GL Msi and RM850X Corsair units, with the latter being a new addition for testing purposes.

Yeah. Also regarding the 2070 super version—no, it's not in safe mode, I believe.

Bios need to be completely current for a quick verification. Wattsge matches what my brothers use. PSU I tested on both an A750GL MSI and RM850X Corsair (new to try), while my brother uses the MSI model. I’ve reinstalled the 2070 Super and haven’t seen any issues yet.

It seems the issue might lie with the power supply unit itself. I wouldn’t rule out two PSUs being unsuitable right away. Still, it’s worth checking. Could be a simple user mistake—maybe you connected incorrectly or missed something? How sure are you about installing the card properly, especially if it’s modular and you used the right ports on the PSU?
