It seems like you're wondering if everything was fine with the mobile component. It's hard to confirm without testing, especially since a power supply is needed for verification. You mentioned sending it back to MSI under warranty, which might help resolve any issues.

It seems like you're asking about the fan inside the power supply. Does it spin up? If not, is it the power supply itself? Could it be a tower case with the power supply at the bottom pulling air in from underneath? If that's the case, I’d want wood or tile, not carpeting, since that could block airflow and cause overheating. Poor or blocked airflow might lead to the power supply overheating. I once had a supply blow on me with sparks and smoke, but the rest of it was okay.

The tests I performed included a paper clip test and manually jumping the unit. There was no rotation from the fans on the PSU. I also checked for memory or CPU issues and replaced the CMOS battery, but the problem persisted. The power source remains at the bottom of the case, which is typical, so I moved my PC onto a wooden drawer to keep it off the ground and reduce dust and debris. I’m wondering if the issue might be due to a power supply failure. I wasn’t able to observe any events since the PC went down while I wasn’t nearby, and I don’t know if a spark occurred or anything else happened.

I received a fresh power supply from MSI. It was a dead unit, which makes me question why it fails so quickly—less than a year and it stops working? I’m not overly harsh while gaming. If anyone else notices this, I’ve fixed the issue but still have some questions. Could you suggest possible reasons for such rapid failure despite a lifespan of at least five years? Also, would it be better to switch brands or stick with what’s reliable for you? Thanks for the feedback!
