My PC functioned properly the previous evening. Descended to the dining area to dine and it suddenly stopped. Attempted to press the power button but received no response. Verified connections to ensure everything was secured, yet nothing changed. Since my system is less than a year old, I’m unsure what might have caused this issue. My primary uses include watching Wuthering Waves and working with Adobe applications such as Premiere, Audition, and Photoshop. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. During assembly, I still feel uncertain because this was my first build. CPU cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE ARGB 66.17 CFM. Storage: Silicon Power UD902TB 4.0 SSD NVMe 4.0 Gen3 PCIe M.2. GPU: Zotac GAMING Trinity GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16 GB Video. Power supply: MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850 W, 80+ Gold certified, fully modular ATX. CPU: Ryzen 7800X3D. RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 Series DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) at 6000MT/s. Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX v2.

This situation isn't uncommon for a new PC. It's normal for components to degrade over time, especially as they age. The timing around May 22-23 suggests it's nearing the end of its expected lifespan. The mid-range build likely contributed to lower costs, but cooling issues could have accelerated wear. Weak cooling might have played a role in any failures that occurred.

It's possible anything might fail unexpectedly, especially if the device is very new. If it's under a year old, you might be able to use a warranty claim for defective components. Regarding CPU cooling, you're unlikely to see a complete failure since the system usually responds with alerts like a debug light or fans running at full speed—though performance could still drop significantly. A 7800x3D setup may hit its limits under high power usage, particularly if stock settings are used. Make sure all connections are secure, inspect both inside and outside the case, and try disconnecting it from power for 10–15 minutes (even with a power strip). Since the system shows no signs of life, it's likely just inactive but not dead. These steps should help you troubleshoot further.

I suspect there might be an issue with the power supply unit itself. After trying several diagnostic methods and checking connections, the lack of response remains consistent. Testing other components didn’t reveal any faults either. The fact that fans aren’t spinning adds more weight to the possibility that this is indeed the faulty PSU.

For a replacement, the Gold Thermaltake modular 850W PSU you mentioned could be a good option if you’re looking for a reliable, high-wattage solution. If you need further guidance on specifications or compatibility, let me know.

Regarding thermal paste, it’s not critical at this stage unless temperatures remain consistently high. Using Thermalright paste might help, but it’s not a guarantee. As for the HOT chip, it’s likely related to overheating rather than performance issues, so monitoring temperatures closely is key.

If you’d like, I can help you compare other PSU models or suggest replacement parts based on your needs.

Don't take it personally, but have you verified the power switch on the PSU?

Absolutely not bothered, and honestly I just laughed. After spending the whole day trying, it still didn’t help. Checked RAM placement, swapped the CPU, removed and reinstalled the CMOS battery, tried various power connectors, even changed the socket locations around the house—nothing fixed anything.

Your power supply could have failed while you were away.
