System performs unpredictable restarts without generating a crash dump.
Occasionally my system powers down unexpectedly. It restarts without warning or error messages, just shutting off and turning back on. The event viewer shows only a standard recovery notice. It occurred several times weekly for a couple of weeks, then it remained inactive for an extended period before resuming. Recently it’s happening more often. It tends to happen when I’m using just the desktop or a browser, not under heavy usage. I suspect it’s a hardware fault since no crash data is logged. I’ve run diagnostics like memtest, which showed no issues, and temperatures stayed normal during tests. Various benchmarking programs completed without problems. I disabled DOCP and PBO, reset CMOS, and ran SFC/checkdsk. Still unsure what’s triggering this behavior.
Thank you for your input. I turned it off and will monitor the situation. Update: It hasn’t crashed after a week, which suggests the fix worked. Appreciate your patience!
