Essentially every time I start a game or play something, my computer always runs at full speed. In Task Manager I don’t see the GPU until I click the performance tab. When I try to play a game and then close it, everything freezes. My Discord keeps crashing. This issue has been getting worse over time. Please help.

Start by checking your drivers. If you have the newest GPU driver installed, consider reverting to an older version. An outdated driver might cause issues with your system. Also, think about how long ago you performed a full system reset—it’s not easy, but it can improve stability.

I installed it in February, thinking it was just because my PC was getting old. I upgraded the components to match the current specs. Recently, I updated the driver for GeForce Experience. I’m not sure if there’s another method to download graphics drivers and I don’t think I have any rogue programs consuming resources. Is there a way to verify that?

Which games are you attempting to run? It might be that the card is outdated for those titles, which could be making the I7 work harder. When you say you performed a clean install, do you mean you replaced the whole operating system completely? Also, check that your CPU isn’t overheating or throttling—especially with a 9700K, are you pushing it too hard?

It’s just the normal performance, but it seems to be handling everything smoothly. The boosts you see are likely due to the motherboard settings rather than any throttling.
