Prime95 doesn't reveal instability in the curve optimizer. My 5900X, which has very poor cores, tops out at 4.75GHz in Cinebench while some CPUs can reach 4.9GHz with proper cooling and voltage. Even with -30 curve optimizer settings, it still crashes randomly at the desktop when you go beyond -12. Because the optimizer reduces voltage as load increases, the chip barely lowers its power draw during heavy stress, making it prone to BSOD under such conditions. For a more accurate test, memory stress tests will expose instability, though this isn't ideal since it doesn't isolate individual cores—using a core cycler would be better.
