it becomes a simple matter. windows will eventually power on the drive and create an index if needed, but you don’t want it to happen each time the computer starts because of this issue. then disconnect it.

It seems like the issue isn't with us, we're not OS engineers. There might be something it perceives as crucial. It doesn't seem to be impacting you—HDDs have been spinning smoothly for years, and we always keep backups for important data.
