I was testing my friend's GPU using a 1660 system. After connecting it, I ran a simple furmark test to ensure there were no scams. Then I swapped in the 1660 and 1660TI, but the fans reached 100% while nothing displayed—just lights on the mouse and keyboard. When I reinstalled the original 1660, everything functioned normally. I tried DDU to check drivers, but the problem continued. I replaced the 1660TI and put it back in; the same issue remained. To be safe, I used a different machine with a 5700XT and it worked perfectly. I removed the CMOS battery to rule out bios issues, waited ten minutes, and the problem persisted. After that, I reinstalled the 1660TI into my own system, which operated without issues. Everything seems to be fine now.

Sorry about that. GPU swapping can be tricky, particularly if it isn't properly grounded. Pins may degrade during removal or replacement. Here are some suggestions: 1. Inspect the PSU pins on the GPU connector to confirm they're correctly placed on the 1660ti. 2. Start with the GTX 1660, adjust BIOS settings, and configure the PCIe slot to Gen 3 (avoid Auto or Gen 4 if needed). Save your changes, power down, and install the 1660Ti. The 1660Ti might struggle to negotiate PCIe settings correctly with the motherboard post-swap. 3. Begin with the GTX 1660, set BIOS accordingly, and make sure the main display output is linked to PCIe (not iGPU or Auto). Turn off any built-in graphics if active and ensure CSM is enabled. Share your findings here—please let me know!

Thanks for your reply. It seems the issue was resolved by your brother restarting the PC. The system is now working properly.

You ensured all connections were disconnected before removing the CMOS battery.

I think it had to do with the way it was placed or linked. Clarifies the kick start, lol.
