Hello! Over the past three weeks, I've faced problems with my new system (just three months old). For the first two months everything worked perfectly, but then I started experiencing BSODs linked to memory issues—like 0x000000f and similar errors. My previous build used an ASUS motherboard and had the same crashes until I found a Reddit suggestion about disabling CPU states. That fixed the memory-related BSOD on my current build too. Now my computer randomly crashes apps, usually games, when switching to desktop. Sometimes Discord freezes and restarts instantly.
Crash details:
A: Monitors fade mostly black with red marks; screen is partially visible but doesn’t refresh (about 4 times a month).
B: Game launches instantly, then crashes with GPU usage spiking to 100%. Restarting fixes it. (Most common.)
C: Apps close without obvious errors (1-4 times daily).
D: A transparent purple square appears in the upper-left corner during Unreal 4 games (only twice in over two weeks).
Troubleshooting steps:
- Checked hardware, wires, connectors.
- Updated drivers and Windows.
- Monitored temperatures (normal), reset RAM, ran DXdiag and SFC.
- Clean install of Windows 10 using default settings.
- Updated GPU drivers after June 17th.
Notes:
I did a clean PC build with no previous data. The video issues began after GPU driver updates and Windows on June 17. I started playing Diablo 4 around that time. Let’s see if it’s connected.
Specs: Self-built, Windows 10 Home, 64-bit.
Graphics: Intel Core i9-13900K, RTX 3080 Ti, 32GB DDR5, 12GB RAM.
Recent events:
- June 17: GPU drivers & Windows updated.
- Started Diablo 4: crashes occurred.
- Other: Transparent purple square in Unreal 4 (twice).
Tech used: Physical hardware check, driver updates, system scans, resets.
Do you possess any small output dumps? Upload the folder located at C:\Windows\Minidump. If you have files ready, paste the directory into another place, compress it, and include it in your message.
XMP continues to push performance. Adjust RAM speed to 4800 for testing, then run memory tests at 5600. First, then at 4800—just curious. Why is the B760 board paired with a k-series CPU? Can it still be overclocked? I expected non-k skew boards to work better on these chips. Why are you using Windows 10 with 13th generation hardware? Well, Windows 11 is public beta but still optimized for those CPUs. Crashes with artifacting might point to memory issues in the GPU as well. I’d consider returning it if it’s still under warranty—this seems like a hardware defect involving faulty memory chips.
Hey, I plan to run some new memtests as suggested when I return from my trip. The mobile was given to me as part of a deal, and I actually received it for free. I’m not usually someone who does a lot of overclocking. My reason for choosing W10 is mainly because it’s an OS I’m quite comfortable with. I recall upgrading early to W10 which caused some problems, so I spent a few years reverting back to W7 before going back to W10. I purchased the GPU during the chip shortage and paid a premium for it. It’s been over a year and a half, and I’m wondering if I can fix my issues before replacing it or if I should try getting it repaired. Thanks for your advice!
Also check for VRAM tests on your GPU. If that’s the issue, it will reveal the problem clearly. https://www.geckoandfly.com/26687/gpu-st...rclocking/ Here are some examples... I understand your concern. I didn’t install Windows 10 until I needed to reinstall once. But... I accidentally installed Windows 11 while accepting an update. Haha. So far, I haven’t faced any stability problems. Such issues usually depend on hardware or drivers, not the operating system itself. If you haven’t performed DDU and updated the latest NVIDIA drivers, you should do that as well. Just reinstalling drivers isn’t enough; you need to reset them. I don’t know your location, but in Norway I could get a replacement up to five years... then again, Gigabyte offers their own warranty. If yours is registered, it should match. Contact them via email and explain your problems, and verify the warranty on your card. Depending on the VRAM testing results and your location, you might be able to have the chips checked or replaced without major hassle. For Europe, channels like Krisfixgermany are worth checking; elsewhere, NorthridgeFix is a good option. These are mostly creators, but searching for GPU repair guides should help you find reliable services.
I just returned from home today. I'll check for any crashes while playing. It's a bit amusing since I'm in Norway too. Five years, right?
Mem tests completed successfully at high speeds. Two GPU evaluations passed. Two GPU memory checks also succeeded. Experienced two BSODs yesterday while gaming, both coinciding with gameplay. During a Video Memory test, several failures appeared immediately, indicating only 3.2GB of VRAM available.
Memory testers are much less reliable with modern memory like DDR4 and newer. Please upload any additional dump files.
