Windows 10: Recently after the April update I've faced problems on both my laptop and desktop, while my brother's machine is unaffected. The issue starts when I interact with the taskbar—clicking or using the minimise, exit, or new tab buttons—but nothing happens. Hovering over icons doesn't make the images lighter as expected, and this happens intermittently. The only temporary fix I've found is pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del to open Task Manager, which works for a short time. I've also reset Windows Explorer multiple times, but it only resolves briefly. The System File Checker didn't reveal any problems.

Contact Microsoft regarding this problem. If you enter "Get Help" in the Windows search bar, you'll connect with an AI, which can then direct you to a representative for assistance.

If this affects your ability to use the system, I’d perform a clean install. Updates can sometimes cause issues due to conflicts with OS changes or third-party software. Microsoft may not always consider how different programs interact with the operating system, so an update could break something a third-party app was relying on. Restarting with the newest version and then reinstalling drivers and apps should resolve the problem.

It's a bit confusing, but everything appears to be functioning now. I wasn't sure why, but I managed to boot it in safe mode, though the issue persisted. The next day everything worked perfectly. Thanks for your support!
