Gathered specifications: Ryzen 5 5600X at 3.7 GHz, ASUS Prime B550M-A (WiFi), G.Skill Ripjaws V 2x8GB DDR4-3600, ASUS TUF RTX 3060Ti, 8GB Samsung 980 PRO SSD, 250GB. Followed a YouTube PC build guide; system booted with fans spinning and lights on—but no display output. Monitor reported no HDMI signal. Anticipated BIOS update needed due to motherboard and CPU compatibility concerns. Checked RAM compatibility via PCPartPicker but didn’t find issues. The motherboard lacked visible clues, so uncertainty remains about root cause. Consider swapping with known-compatible RAM if possible. Updated CMOS by touching pins for 15 seconds, then removing battery for about three minutes—no effect observed. Last edited August 8, 2022 by Hamothy. Updated info.
I verified both HDMI ports on the GPU. Appreciate you noticing the compatibility.
Are your graphics card and its connections working correctly? I’ve noticed fans spinning, RGB active, but the device won’t respond. The problem came from an 8-pin cable not fitting into the power supply properly. According to what I recall, if the monitor shows no HDMI signal, the GPU is likely the cause. Also, if RAM isn’t recognized, the display should show the POST screen where the motherboard tests all hardware.
Yes. The setup has just one 8-pin connector port, so I connected the 6+2 PCIe cable there. I began to think about verifying the CPU connections.
This board requires a BIOS upgrade to support Zen3 CPUs such as the Ryzen 5000 line. Certain models include a BIOS update button, allowing you to refresh the firmware without a CPU—unfortunately, this isn’t available here. You may need to use an older 3000 series Ryzen to boot up and then install the new BIOS to accommodate a 5000 series processor, or reach out to ASUS to inquire about flashing the updated BIOS for your board.
