System in mid-range mode causes noticeable freezing in GTA V
Hey there! After spending several hours trying to fix things, I turned to the community for advice. My setup includes a Ryzen 7 2700X, 16GB RAM, and an MSI Bazooka B450M V2 with the newest BIOS, all running Windows 11. I recently reinstalled GTA V last weekend, but it’s not working properly—levels are stuttering and the frame rate drops to a frustrating low, even at 60 FPS. This wasn’t the same issue I faced about a year ago on the same system. I checked temperatures, both CPU and GPU hovering around 60°C, which is normal. Running everything at minimum settings didn’t help, though I maxed each setting and got a slight improvement. I’ve searched online, tried limiting the frame rate below 170 FPS, but nothing changed. Running compatibility mode on the game helped someone else, but not me. I’m really stuck. By the way, another game I have the same problem with is Euro Truck Simulator 2—even at max or min settings it still drops below 60 FPS. All others, like Apex Legends, work perfectly. I’ve uploaded a video on MEGA to illustrate my issue (no download needed, built-in player). Thanks for any assistance—I’d love to play these two games again soon! Cheers!
Have you attempted a fresh installation of the Nvidia driver? I encountered a similar problem once on an older, less powerful GT 635, and updating the driver resolved it. Looking back, it seems a driver change might have altered settings in the Nvidia control panel.
I changed my graphics drivers yesterday using GeForce Experience. I'm planning to test a clean installation with DDU and will share the results.
Try DXVK for download. Extract the required files and place them in the specified Steam directory.
Start by using DDU, after that reinstall the newest stable driver.
Get the GeForce Experience directly from the official site for the best performance.
