System has experienced two crashes and is no longer booting.
I was operating my computer for a short time before it unexpectedly restarted. Once it rebooted, it functioned properly for a while, but then the audio and display froze completely. After some waiting and attempting to restart the graphics card, I force shut the system off. Believing Windows was the issue, I switched to Linux (dual boot) and it crashed again. Eventually, the PC stopped responding entirely, with the VGA debug LED illuminated on my MSI board.
My specifications are: Ryzen 5800X, 16 GB RAM, 3600 MHz CPU, MSI 8GB 3070 TiB B550 gaming motherboard.
I tried several troubleshooting steps: re-seating the GPU and cables, cutting power to RAM, waiting and retrying disconnections, using a different GPU from another machine, and even switching to another PCIe slot. However, the problem persisted.
A few weeks ago I added another HDD to my system, but everything worked fine afterward. I haven’t used the PC much in about two years. It’s around two years old if I recall correctly, and I haven’t experienced any issues before that. I’m unsure what else I could try since the motherboard seems to have failed suddenly. I hope someone can assist me and thank you ahead of time.
Hey there! I'm checking the system and might reset the CMOS to see if that helps. I'll also try repositioning the CPU. Also, I'll attempt to boot without a GPU, even though it doesn't have one. If nothing works, I'll reach out to Customer Support for an RMA.
I adhered to your suggestions and restored all connections on the PC. It worked somewhat, though I’m not entirely sure how. Thanks for your assistance!
It seems the GPU or power connector might have been disturbed during installation. I once struggled so much that after putting in a new SATA SSD, my computer wouldn’t turn on at all. It turned out the power switch connector was loose.
