Hey there, so it seems my system has been struggling for about four days now. That’s affecting my gaming performance, which used to be solid. The BIOS was last updated a year ago and hasn’t caused any problems before. Now it won’t run with XMP 2.0 anymore—only 3200MHz is supported, not the higher speeds I needed. My CPU will only boot at 2800MHz, and it’s stuck on stock settings. I’ve used a 4 stick configuration for two years without any issues, but others said it was the cause. That turned out to be wrong, though—it still behaves similarly before, just worse now with just 16GB RAM. I’m pretty done now; I’m leaning toward buying a console or spending around €15,000 on a high-end build to fix this. The BIOS is stuck on default settings and keeps failing. Internally, I have a Ryzen 7 2700 2x Corsair Vengeance LPX (the second one is a G.Skill AEGIS 2x), ASRock B450M Pro 4 GTX 1660 Super, and a Thermaltake Grandpower. The fans are working fine on the new setup, but I’m still unsure about the right configuration. Windows is fresh on Windows 11. I’m a bit confused and hoping you can help—I’d appreciate any details you have. Thanks a lot, Moxy!

The Ryzen 7 2700 has trouble with memory speeds above 2933mhz, and mixing different types only makes things worse. Choosing the cheapest motherboard from the least reputable maker doesn’t improve the problem either. It won’t support overclocking anymore, which is frustrating since the stock cooler isn’t doing well under load.

I've never faced issues with XMP on the 3200 before—it just started about four days ago. Even on another system, the R/2700 worked fine with a similar setup on 3200MHz. I'm still not sure what's going on. I don’t have much money left as a 21-year-old earning around $3,500 a month. Any suggestions for affordable options under $150?

Consider checking the motherboard tiers. Higher-end options are ideal for solid VRM configurations. My system is ITX yet still offers excellent VRM performance. I’m currently using the ROG Strix B450-I with my 2700x.
