Recently after logging in, it mentioned needing updates from the previous evening. When my power went out, the PC started warning "Please wait" on every startup and would either freeze or take a long time to boot. I’m unsure how to fix this—should I remove and then reinstall the updates? Thanks for any advice.

Restart your PC to see if it remains on the “Please wait” screen. If so, go to Windows Recovery Environment > Advanced Options > UEFI Firmware Settings to verify the startup disk matches the system disk. If not, switch it to the system disk. For further assistance, run the following commands in Command Prompt after selecting Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt: bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd bootrec.exe /fixmbr bootrec.exe /fixboot. After completing, restart the computer.
