System halts unexpectedly without warning.
Hello community! I just received a new build – motherboard, CPU cooler, and SSD. After assembling everything, I noticed the PC freezes unexpectedly, usually after about an hour of use. I checked Core Temp and Task Manager, but nothing seems to be failing. It might be related to the SSD (still using an old Windows 7 partition, and it sometimes sounds even though I'm on Windows 10) or the motherboard itself. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Here are the specs: CPU – i5-4570 @ 3.2 GHz, cooler – LC-Power LC-CC-120-RGB, motherboard – ASUS H81-M2, graphics – MSI Radeon RX 560, RAM – unbranded DDR3 16GB @ 1666 MHz, power supply – bequiet!, case – semi-modular 530W Pure Power, SSD – SanDisk SSD Plus 120GB, HDD – SeaGate Barracuda 1TB.
I attempted the following steps: restarted from HDD, reset BIOS, removed and replaced the CMOS battery, and waited several minutes. No results achieved.
The errors you hear from Windows 7 in the Event Viewer typically relate to system performance, driver issues, or resource management. Common sounds include beeps or tones indicating specific problems such as disk errors, memory issues, or hardware faults. Check the Event Viewer logs for detailed descriptions and timestamps to identify the exact cause.
I would reinstall Windows on the SSD and clear the HDD. You might attempt to repair the current installation, but it seems the core issue stems from the previous Windows setup. Likely, the OS is attempting background operations but retrieves outdated files from Windows 7 due to its preference for reusing file paths.
You might want to test it, though it could affect the current setup because it appears to be background work from Windows 7 on a 10 system.
No, I am not utilizing high performance mode in power management.
