System halts briefly on certain machine.
Hello, I'm experiencing a problem where my main display suddenly turns black. It appears one at a time and seems linked to the software running on it. Videos: Specifications – Primary monitor (the one with flickering): Dell S2716DG Secondary monitor: DELL P2418D Desktop (the model I'm using): CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING X TRIO 24G PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1000W Gold OS: Windows 11 Pro Laptop: Lenovo Legion 5 (i7-10750H / RTX 2060) I've tried several solutions: changing cables, using different GPU ports on the graphics card, unplugging and replugging power and display cords, connecting only the problematic monitor, updating NVIDIA drivers, lowering refresh rates via NVIDIA Control Panel, turning off overclock, resetting the monitor to factory settings, adjusting refresh rates from 165Hz to 144Hz or 60Hz, using G-Sync, removing potential EMI sources, verifying power connections. These steps haven't fixed the issue. Additional observations: The problem consistently occurs with Steam. It also happens when playing games or running other full-screen applications, though I can't always reproduce it. With these apps open, I often see flickering when switching focus (Alt + Tab / Windows + Tab). I connected the monitor to my laptop using a USB-C to DP cable, but after two days I still couldn't trigger the issue, even with Steam running. My secondary monitor doesn't flicker under any circumstances. - In the first video, it looks like Steam might crash or restart unexpectedly. - I've noticed Steam sometimes freezing completely and rebooting itself. - I have other unresolved problems with my main display, so it's possible the monitor is defective. - Although my PC is new, this flickering started about a week ago, unlike any issues I've had before. - Temperatures and usage of the GPU/CPU are normal during these episodes (I can also trigger the Steam glitches when only Steam is open on a idle system).
I keep seeing flickering even when Steam isn't active. When I switched tabs using Alt-tab, it got worse, so I stopped using Steam. The issue continued.
