My computer has been severely slowing down recently and almost everything is unresponsive except the mouse and keyboard. The only solution to get it running again is to power it off or restart it from the front panel. This issue appears only during games and seems to disappear when not in use. I’ve installed the latest GPU drivers, ran the SFC scan, and Windows reported corrupt files that were fixed. Updates have been applied, but the problem persists. Today I removed the GPU and reinserted it, but it still freezes. After taking out one RAM stick, the other worked temporarily. About ten minutes ago I did the same, so I’m just waiting to see if it will fail next. It’s strange that roughly two weeks ago I encountered a blue screen with the error code KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. I haven’t had such an issue since then. My CPU has been labeled Rxzen instead of Ryzen 5 1400, and the BIOS displays "Rxzen." The voltage reading also seems to have dropped below 1V, though I’m not sure. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, I forgot to mention that I was planning a GPU upgrade and purchased an MSI B450 Tomohawk II. When I installed the R5 1400, the GPU only worked in the bottom slot. After swapping it to the top, it turned on but showed no display. I replaced the motherboard thinking that was the cause, but it repeated the same problem. When I went back to the A320 board, it worked in the top slot at PCIE 3 X4 speed (despite being X16), though I haven’t noticed any performance drop. Have you modified any settings in the BIOS before? And have you ever upgraded or installed a new BIOS version?

I haven't modified the BIOS beyond adjusting XMP settings. The power setting was already disabled. I also overlooked mentioning my earlier plan to upgrade. With the MSI B450 Tomohawk II, the GPU only functioned in the bottom slot initially; after installing the R5 1400, it turned on but didn’t display anything. I swapped the motherboard thinking that resolved the issue, but it still had the same problem. When I returned to the A320 board, it worked in the top slot but only at PCIe 3 X4 speed despite supporting X16. No noticeable performance drop has been observed so far.

This information is helpful, but it's unclear what's behind the issue. I'll check for the newest BIOS update and let you know the outcome.

It failed with another RAM module. I replaced it, but the system would power up yet not show any keyboard or mouse lights, and the screen didn’t appear. I removed the faulty stick from the main slot and it functioned. Then I swapped the non-working stick into the left slot and it worked. The left RAM slot on the motherboard isn’t functioning, but both sticks are operational. Any suggestions?

It seems there might be an issue with either the motherboard or the CPU. Consider checking the CPU connections; a misaligned pin could affect RAM functionality.

I swapped the CPU again but the left port remains unresponsive and it still shows Rxzen. Both RAM sticks function properly once placed in the correct slots. This might indicate a motherboard problem. Also, the DRAM EZDEBUG lights turned white when I inserted the RAM in the left slot. Updated August 13, 2022 by rebel1

It seems highly probable it’s a CPU or motherboard problem. Check for any marks on the side that faces the pins in the socket. Without further testing with another board or chip, it’s hard to pinpoint the exact cause.
