System halted due to DRAM issue following CPU upgrade
I purchased a new CPU, the 5700X, to swap in with my previous 1500X. Prior to the change, I updated the BIOS on my motherboard (GB Aorus Elite v2) to the latest release, F65A. After swapping the CPUs, the boot process became stuck at the DRAM led, suggesting a problem there. I’m certain it wasn’t related to memory mapping or similar issues, as the system remained stable for nearly 10 minutes without any changes. Testing all combinations of RAM and slots didn’t reproduce the issue. When I reinstalled the old CPU, everything worked perfectly in Windows. During troubleshooting, I found the 5700X missing from Gigabyte’s “Supported CPUs” list, which seems incorrect since other 5xxx models are present, including the 5700. Given the DRAM-related complaints and the smooth boot on the original chip, it’s possible a faulty memory controller is at play. Could this be the real issue, or did I inadvertently select an incompatible model?
5700x appears in the approved catalog starting with BIOS version F61. https://www.gigabyte.com/Ajax/SupportFun...Value=7516 For a CMOS reset, disconnect the PSU power button for 10 seconds, then short the reset pins for 10 seconds or keep the reset button pressed if available. Reconnect the PSU and power on.
Sure, everything else seems to be functioning properly. The CPU appears to be completely offline.
