Hello! I’m dealing with a few problems on my computer that I’d love help fixing.

Specs: ASUS TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4 LGA 1700 i5-12600K, 16GB Pure Rock 2 (DDR4), Radeon RX6600, Eagle Seasonic Focus GX-750, Gigabyte G27Q & HP E223.

Issue: The machine freezes often and needs a full restart. After the crash…
- CPU cooler and case fans keep spinning
- One HDMI port on GPU doesn’t work
- Second HDMI port shows frozen desktop on each monitor (cables are fine)
- Can’t swap HDMI cables from GPU to CPU (not sure if this is typical)
- No lights on, but RGB is off – this seems normal
- Ethernet port lights up and shows activity
- BIOS version 020.003.000.030, software 2021.0430, driver 21.30.23.01-211018a-373652

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I was just thinking about what would happen if it started to freeze.

You're focusing on CPU and memory specs. It seems you have plenty of power available. Are you using Windows 11 or 10? The details shouldn't be crucial, but I thought it would be good to check. Consider re-seating the RAM by inserting it 3-4 times. If freezing persists, disable XMP settings and see if the issue resolves.

Do you have a video that explains what happens? I believe I’ve encountered this problem before, but without a reference point it’s hard to understand. The issue seems to start after switching to Windows 11.

I can try it on a different machine if needed.

My machine often freezes, making it hard to run different applications. Watching videos in full screen, playing games, browsing the internet, and using Outlook all cause issues. It even stopped right after turning on, before I could open anything. I think the graphics card isn’t the problem. Freezing happens specifically when using built-in graphics. I’m using Windows 10. It seems the RAM wasn’t installed correctly at first but is now properly seated. Still, the issue keeps coming up, so the hardware connection must be fine. I plan to disable XMP and check if that resolves it. A note: the BIOS lists 2333 MHz, but I bought a 3200 MHz model, which is allowed under XMP settings. Thoughts? I don’t have a video at the time of freezing. The tasks I was doing varied. At freeze time, audio loops and produces a buzzing sound, while the video freezes completely on one frame. The screen appears normal. When it freezes on my desktop, I only notice because other devices stop working and the clock shows a stopped time. I’m currently using the built-in graphics and had a second GPU ready but it froze too. Thanks everyone for your previous comments!

I experienced a comparable problem earlier; it needed resetting the BIOS configuration. You might try reverting to an older BIOS version if possible.

I haven't changed the BIOS version. Would you still face a problem requiring a flash update?

It might assist in addressing your concerns. Asus offers a straightforward method to update the system to a compatible version for your motherboard. I've attached the relevant link with the BIOS download details for your motherboard. You only need a blank USB drive. https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Compon...Desk_BIOS/ https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1012815/
