System freezes upon startup.
My siblings' motherboard failed because of power spikes (believed). We purchased a replacement. A custom cooler from Lenovo was included, along with a new 5900x CPU. It uses the same AM4 slot as the 5700g model. After putting everything together, we spent hours trying to boot it. Once we reinstalled Windows, it still froze on every start-up (except when booting into BIOS). After resetting RAM, we tested NVMe drives from other machines but nothing worked. We updated the BIOS, but the issue persisted. The system won't even let us reset it and shows an error message instead.
Update BIOS to: Version 2423 https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Compon...Desk_BIOS/ Ensure ram kit is a single unit, not two separate 2x8GB kits with varying timings. Manually adjust timings, frequency, and DRAM voltage in BIOS if needed. For complete timing details, download Aida64 from motherboard ->SPD and note the values. If using two kits, compare timings and choose the best one. Stability is key to view information in Aida64. Recommend keeping only primary settings active (e.g., 16-18-16-36) and leaving others auto unless you need specific tweaks.
Proceed to adjust the clock settings yourself. XMP (DOCP) may not function properly. If unavailable, turn off the Asus Armoury crate in the BIOS settings. Once installed, remove it using the uninstaller from ASUS. https://www.asus.com/supportonly/Armoury Crate/HelpDesk_Download/
Sure, I'll do my best. Let me know if you'd like me to adjust anything.
