Sorry to bother you. My friends PC has been acting odd for about a year and a half. Every week it crashes roughly five times, sometimes just once. It shows different error codes each time. The most frequent ones are “Critical Process died”, “Interrupt exception not handled”, “Driver irql not less or equal – nviddmkm.sys”, “Windows not found” and “status_illegal_instruction”. We’ve installed all the latest drivers, runched sfc/scannow and CHKDSK, but nothing’s been fixed. Because of the pandemic we missed updating the BIOS (he’s even less familiar with tech than me).
PC specs: Ryzen 2700x, MSI B450 gaming pro carbon, 16GB DDR-3600, CL18 Dual Kit, Gigabite 1050ti, Corsair VS450, storage from Toshiba 128GB SSD, Windows 10. No overclocking yet.
Do you know any possible fixes for this unclear issue? Is it a software problem or something with the RAM or GPU? I see other people discussing similar problems in this forum, but I haven’t found a solid solution.
Run CPU tests using Prime95 with Small FFTs for an hour. Perform RAM checks with Memtest86. Report any issues encountered during testing. Prime95 download link: https://www.mersenne.org/download/ Memtest86 download link: https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm
