I've been using my PC for roughly a year now and haven't faced any major problems except for this one. I'm trying to figure out what's going on. My system usually works well 99% of the time, but about once every 1-2 months it will restart on its own without warning. After it reboots, I can't play any heavy games or it does the same thing again. If I keep trying to use it normally, it just keeps restarting with no load screen or a black screen with the motherboard light on. The only way it boots again is by clearing the CMOS. I've done this several times (around four times now) and it works perfectly afterward. Before clearing the CMOS, I still had the reboot issue and would play a game that lasted about five minutes before it restarted. After clearing the CMOS, I set up everything the same way and loaded a game that should normally cause a restart. It ran for hours in the original problematic condition. Do I need to replace my CMOS battery or is there another problem? I also got a second power supply because I thought that might be the cause, but after running stress tests and other checks, nothing unusual came up. I'm really confused!

Can you share the current conditions under load? Have there been any updates to your system software? Which components are you working with?

CPU model is AMD 3900X, GPU is RTX 3070, SSD type MP600 with 2TB capacity in M.2 format. RAM available is 32GB split into two 16GB modules. I used the CORSAIR VENGEANCE 3600MHz motherboard. Performance was stable, with the CPU reaching about 55% max and GPU around 63%, showing minimal variation. I updated all drivers after ensuring the system started working properly.

In that scenario, reset the driver to its working state. It might seem random, but it appears to be a driver-specific issue rather than a universal one.

Yes, you activate your DOCP after resetting the CMOS. Which BIOS version are you using?

I encountered the same issue with the earlier driver, unless you're referring to going back more than a single update.

I enable DOCP once the CMOS is reset. My BIOS is 2003, and I was able to download the newest one from Armoury Crate.

Online reports suggest possible memory problems. I tested with MemTest86 and everything worked fine. Still, random restarts happen during gameplay.

Well, yes the one where you don’t have the issue.
