Hello everyone, I'm trying to set up a PC and have some questions about operating systems. Should I choose Windows 7 or 8.1? I like Windows 7 more, but I worry that after Windows 10 was released, 7 might disappear soon. Also, where do you usually buy operating systems from? Do people get them from Amazon or Best Buy? What's the best way to obtain an OS? Thanks for your help!

Even if you scored 7 or 10, getting a free upgrade would be great!

As mentioned before, Windows 8.1 is the best choice.

7 or 8.1 depending on which is more affordable; you should move to 10 once it drops. Avoid the 7—it's outdated, and 8.1 offers significant improvements.

The best approach could be checking out version 10; if you prefer, you might consider purchasing version 7 and upgrading for free to reach version 10 when it suits you better.

I've been using both Windows 7 and 8.1 for a long time. Windows 8.1 is clearly superior, even with the mediocre Metro feature. It runs faster, offers more convenience, and includes great capabilities such as mounting ISOs without Daemon Tools, plus it handles gaming better.

You can buy them on Newegg, Amazon, and Microsoft. For students, use your school email to obtain affordable Windows copies with 8.1. If you don’t like the live tiles, visit nitenite.com for Classic Start and the rest of your software needs.

You can look for discounted or free versions of Windows offered by Microsoft or other providers. Check promotions, student discounts, or community programs that provide affordable access.
