I powered off my computer last night and forced an update. Everything proceeded without issues, and I went to sleep. After returning from work today, the machine stopped beyond the motherboard logo on the screen (where you keep pressing Del to enter BIOS). It also didn’t respond to any key presses. Before you ask, I still have my keyboard and mouse connected via USB 2.0 ports—previous problems had occurred when the BIOS refused to recognize USB 3.0 inputs. The only files downloaded in the past two weeks were the update, and since then the system has run smoothly after a three-month rebuild.

Hardware specs: 5800X Gigabyte Aorus Elite x570 Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 3600mhz (no crashes despite Cas 18 claims), MSI 1650 Super Thermaltake Toughpower Gold 750W PSU (still solid after ~6 years), WD SN750 NVME, Sunbow 1TB 2.5" SSD, Seagate Barracuda 8TB SSD, and a 6TB mass storage drive.

I haven’t run any diagnostics yet, but I’m thinking about disconnecting the SSD and HDD to test. I’m pretty sure this won’t help much. Any suggestions would be appreciated—thanks in advance!

Turning on the computer and pressing the BIOS button right away doesn’t guarantee access. If it doesn’t work, the update might not be the cause and another issue could be involved. A Windows update won’t stop you from entering the BIOS.

No luck... Was hoping maybe someone telling me to do that would make the stars align for me lol! Question, would hitting the button for q flash mess up bios if you don't have a USB in the flash port? My subway sandwich was pressing END (the button on my mobo for q flash) when I turned it on. Long shot, I know, but worth giving every bit of data I have. However, if the motherboard didn't have a bios I doubt it would even make it to that screen (but what do I know, I bake bread for a living). I do know the board itself isn't throwing me any diagnostic LEDs that I can see.

Disconnect the computer from the power source, remove the CMOS battery, count ten, then reinstall it. This should reset the CMOS settings. If the issue persists, clear all RAM and reattach one module. If that fails, inspect the GPU for error codes. If none of these steps work, consider removing everything except the CPU and reseating it. In extreme cases, a dead motherboard might be the cause. Are you connecting via an APC or directly to the wall? It's possible something unexpected happened overnight. Personally, I'm surprised most people don't use battery backups.

I've been trying to obtain a UPC for some time, but until recently it was too expensive. Now it fits within my budget, though it still needs to be connected to a surge protector. Those devices aren't much help. *Feeling embarrassed* Your suggestions mean I have to move this bulky PC around... but let's tackle it!* The CPU and RAM didn't work, so I tried a reset. Would you like me to try booting with a code to check if the motherboard recognizes the absence of a graphics card and displays an LED?

It's conceivable that the qflash without a drive might have achieved something. Consider installing a drive with the BIOS enabled and finish the setup. This ensures you can simply flash the newest BIOS for verification.

Just reaching out to chat with everyone. I crashed before locating my bios file. Seems like the latest version just loaded without me. Had some issues getting it to recognize at first, so I unplugged a few devices. One of my non-boot drives was interfering with the motherboard. I'm updating the BIOS now. Planning to test the drives in different SATA ports to check if it was just one that failed or if the drive itself is dead. Thanks for the support!

Edit: It looks like my Sunbow SSD stopped working. Given how much I invested, it wasn't unexpected. Probably because I didn’t have anything crucial on it that I couldn’t re-download, had backups, or was ready to discard.
