Hi there, I’m trying to resolve these recurring crashes while gaming. They occur during gameplay, causing the screen to shut down and fans to run continuously until I power off the PC. The Windows crash report lists a Kernel Power Error 41, but the HWinfo64 logs don’t display any issues. All drivers seem up to date. My system runs Windows 11 64-bit with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, and several high-end GPUs. The thermal paste on the GPU was recently reapplied by my brother. Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated! HWinfo64 log.CSV

The graphics driver is likely failing. Press Control + Windows + Shift + B during a crash to reset it. If this works, boot into Safe Mode with DDU to remove and reinstall drivers. This usually resolves the issue. The kernel power failure occurred because you forced a restart.

Likely that the thermal pads were altered or removed in key areas when the paste was applied assuming it's not the paste itself that was applied incorrectly. A high load on the gpu will make all points that radiate heat on the gpu heat up and if inadequately cooled the pc will shut off to prevent damage. Open it up following a tutorial on youtube and check that the thermal pads are in the correct spots. If there is a pad missing or ripped find out the thickness of the pads for that specific gpu and buy new ones. They are very cheap. It also possibly a mounting pressure issue where if mounted unequally one side of the card may be inadequately cooled. check for missing screws.

I’d still perform the DDU and reinstall drivers before opening it up and taking the cooler apart, simply because it’s difficult and I’d rule out software issues first.

The BIOS needs an upgrade. Latest versions are available. AMD has improved many features since 2019. Get the newest chipset drivers from AMD.

I received another GPU and replaced it to check if the issue was related to the graphics card. It appears the GPU is causing the crashes.
