System failure due to memory issues
I recently acquired RAM for my setup. Previously, I had a GPU with a Vega 64 and a CPU of 2600X. The system used DDR4 8GB (2x4) with a HyperX 3000 motherboard. I installed Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8) DDR4 3200 memory. Initially, everything worked smoothly, but after some intensive tasks the PC would crash and display various error codes. Using Windows diagnostics revealed a hardware fault. I then purchased new RAM from Corsair: DDR4 16GB (2x8) 3000. The issue persisted, though less frequently, and after running memory tests it showed no faults. I updated Windows and drivers, but the system still failed when running sfx. Disabling XMP improved stability, though the memory speed remained at 2133MHz. I’m unsure how to adjust the RAM voltage settings, so I haven’t tried that yet. Adding an HDD resolved the problem with my old RAM, but since my system was stable then, it’s not the cause. I haven’t returned the Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200 yet. I now have three RAM configurations to test. I haven’t updated my BIOS despite the instability, as I’m hesitant about changes that might help. No new BIOS updates have been released recently, so I’m not confident they’ll improve memory performance. Thank you very much!
“Memory linked crash” is what they call it. As you age, these incidents become more common. People refer to it as “aphasia.” Sometimes memory falters due to a small hair in the slot. It could have damaged your first stick. Remove the memory and check if the pins look anything other than flawlessly golden. If not, gently erase them with a pink pencil eraser—just enough to clean without removing gold. Then blow on the slot; it might help. Possibly just a belief.
Consider refreshing your profile. You share identical RAM and motherboard model.
Thank you a lot for the advice! I cleaned the slots and changed the RAM, and my memory slots are now working smoothly at 3000 MHz.
