Hello, over the past week my computer has become unresponsive (keys and mouse won’t function, no response at all) within five minutes of launching any program, whether logged in or not. A restart usually fixed it, though I experienced occasional random freezes later on. Now it locks every five minutes consistently, preventing me from using the machine. I cleaned the interior thoroughly with compressed air, reset the programs, and updated all drivers. Windows logs mentioned an error code 18 hardware issue. I can enter BIOS and boot in safe mode without problems. No crashes there. Temperatures stayed normal throughout, max reaching 50°C on the CPU. GPU and motherboard appeared fine, fans operated correctly. I run Windows on my SSD with ample space (500GB free), but my HDD has only 15GB left out of 2000GB. Extra storage didn’t help much. I’d really appreciate advice to get my PC back. Thanks ahead. Specs: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 12 cores, 3.7GHz, Liquid Freezer II, gaming X570, G-Skill RAM, DDR4, NVIDIA RTX 3080, 10GB VRAM, EVGA PSU, Windows 10 Pro, 2TB drive, Sabrant Rocket 4TB, 140mm, Noctua NF-A14, 1500W.
Another possibility is the cache problem—try deleting the cache or clearing it. It might also be an SSD-related issue; consider backing up vital files such as work documents, videos, and game saves. You could then reformat the drive and reinstall the operating system.
I genuinely believe there could be another solution. I'm still learning in this area, but I hope someone more experienced can help.
I tested four different connectors with the PC connected directly. The first lasted nine minutes before stopping, the second ten, the third thirteen, and the fourth thirty minutes after enabling automatic restart after force shutdown was turned off. I shut down the fourth one before any failure and restarted it, which took a few minutes before another issue appeared. Using an extension on the fourth worked for about forty minutes before deadlocking again. Before switching sockets, it always failed within five minutes. It still occasionally locks up shortly after, and temperatures don’t change much with HWMonitor. Could this be related to power problems?
