Hello, I recently changed the thermal paste for my brother and installed the cooler properly. To remove it, I pulled out one RAM stick, but now he can’t boot. I also had to take out the GPU for more space. After reassembling everything, it only gave three beeps before failing completely—suggesting a RAM problem. I reinserted the RAM a few times without success, and even tried reseating the graphics card, but nothing worked. I changed the power cable, but the issue persisted. It seems the power button might have come loose while moving the case. My system is an i5 10400 with a Zotac 2060S mini and an Aldi Medion 550W PSU—it’s an Aldi prebuilt unit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I’m worried about paying my brother back and it could take years. Thanks in advance! Did you place the RAM stick correctly? If you remove it and just use one to boot, does it work? Since your motherboard has four slots, have you tested the other slots? You can also try using RAM from another system to see if it’s faulty. If nothing works, consider reseating the CPU. If you suspect the power button is the issue, you might attempt to jump the pins with a screwdriver.
He thought we should go to a shop first to avoid more problems, since he doesn’t want anything else getting damaged and finds reseating the CPU too troublesome after a bad experience with the cheap cooler. I’m considering resetting the BIOS and checking the power button connection. I ran a single-channel boot test and everything functioned properly. One slot appears faulty, but both RAM sticks are intact and operational. I plan to purchase a single 16GB stick instead of the dual 8GB units. After several trials, it’s performing well.
