Hi everyone,
My friend just finished their first build but is still facing problems with posting. I've reviewed the "No Post, System won't boot" discussion and they're still experiencing issues.
Details:
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P
- CPU: AMD FX 8350
- RAM: Corsair DDR3 8GB (CMV8GX3M1A1600C11)
- GPU: MSI GTX 1050ti OC
- Power supply: Ace A-850BR (850w)
They've confirmed they've done the following:
- Read the manual
- Verified the 12V ATX connection
- Inspected standoffs
- Checked the GPU (model doesn't require power connectors)
- Tested with a single stick of RAM
- Checked CPU (note: it was a second-hand CPU with a bent pin, which they straightened using a pencil)
- No thermal paste on the motherboard or CPU socket
- CPU fan is connected
- No screws on the motherboard
- System speaker didn't produce any beep codes
- Front panel connections are correct
- PSU is switched on
- CPU is compatible
- CMOS reset was performed via both CMOS reset and battery removal
They've already swapped the motherboard to a different Gigabyte 970A-DS3P, and the PC now powers on with the CPU fan running and case fans spinning, though no display appears.
This situation also occurred with the previous motherboard. I suspect the bent CPU pin from the earlier issue is likely the main reason. All components are pre-owned except for the CPU fan, case, and PSU.
It doesn't seem likely a RAM or GPU problem, as they worked with those in their previous PC without issues.
Appreciate any advice you might have—I can forward this to them, as they don’t use the internet much.
More than ten years have passed, and it wasn't great even when it first came along.
