I assembled a machine yesterday but it failed to boot. I noticed the red CPU fault indicator lit up when power was applied, followed by the orange RAM error light staying on. Details: CPU – Intel i5-13500, GPU – MSI Ventus 4060 OC black, RAM – Corsair Vengeance LX 2x8GB 3600MHz DDR4, Motherboard – MSI PRO B760M-P, SSD – Kingston NV2 1TB, Power Supply – beQuiet! 10 450W. According to the manual on Corsair Vengeance, the RAM supports multiple Intel chipsets, but the 700 series model used here isn’t listed. I thought this shouldn’t matter, yet it seems possible. All fans spun smoothly initially, including the GPU ones. At startup, the CPU fan began at full speed and settled after a few seconds. Switching to just one RAM stick didn’t change the behavior; the red light still flashed. The RAM was installed correctly according to the instructions. I’m confused—maybe there’s an issue with the motherboard or the CPU itself. It looks like other parts might still be intact.

I selected slots 2 and 4, then tested it with a single stick in slot 2.

How long are you giving it to boot up? Have you tried switching ports on your 4060, or removing the 4060 and using the onboard? Do you have any old DDR4 sticks lying around? They can be very slow.

I tried booting for a few minutes but got nothing, no power shown. I don’t have any spare DDR4 RAM nearby. There’s just one port connected to the GPU, and I’m pretty sure everything looks fine with it since its error light stayed off.

The 450w requirement is just the starting point. Try removing the GPU and connect the monitor directly to your main board.

Based on the specifications available online, there are four ports: three DP and one HDMI. Issues with newer graphics can occur, but it’s usually just a minor fix. I’d recommend waiting at least five days before using a new PC.
