System failure, currently unable to submit (DRAM)
System failure, currently unable to submit (DRAM)
Hello,
I'm sharing this because my system isn't posting anymore.
I'm curious about possible solutions since it's been functioning almost a year without any adjustments.
It stopped responding when I was idle in the game menu, even though the game itself ran smoothly and didn't put much load on the system.
After the crash, the POST failed and the DRAM light appeared on my motherboard.
I've searched everywhere and tried several fixes:
- Reseated RAM multiple times (still seated correctly)
- Used a different stick (2x32 kit) in all slots
- Inspected both sticks and slots for dirt or damage (none found)
- Verified compatibility
- Updated BIOS to the latest version via Bios FlashBack (took longer than expected)
- Cleared CMOS
- Replaced CMOS
- Checked for dust, debris, loose screws, or anything that might short-circuit it
- Ran the system with minimal components (CPU, 1 stick of RAM, PSU only)
- Inspected CPU pins/socket for dirt or scratches (none detected)
- Tested cooler pressure on the CPU and varied it
- Switched to a different motherboard (similar result)

What should I do next?
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Given that Asus and ASRock have both fallen into similar situations recently, and Asus has significantly changed since its peak, I recommend looking for an MSI or Gigabyte motherboard instead of purchasing one.
For troubleshooting, avoid using a dedicated GPU as your processor already includes an integrated graphics unit. Use a single stick of RAM in slot A2. If the problem continues with a non-Asus/ASRock board, it might mean the processor's built-in memory controller has failed.
I can purchase the boards and send them back; the issue is mainly because nothing is actually available, so I need delivery instead.
It doesn’t seem probable that both ram sticks failed identically at once, which makes it less likely the problem was with the CPU.
I’ll check this out. For now, I’ve ordered a replacement CPU.
