System fails to terminate correctly when XMP is activated
I have a strange problem with turning on the XMP for my RAM (Trident-Z Neo). I'm using it on a B560 ASUS TUF Gaming MB with an Intel 11400. When enabling XMP, there are no boot problems and everything works fine while gaming or using the PC. The real issue comes when trying to shut down or restart the system. It seems like everything powers on but the RAM won't shut down—no display, mouse, or keyboard respond, yet the PC keeps running. The RGB lights up and the fans spin, but the shutdown fails. After resetting the BIOS to defaults twice, the problem disappeared. Are you doing anything incorrect, or should I suggest copying the XMP frequency/timings settings and lowering them to 3200 to prevent this?
Unclear though... You should probably avoid buying TridentZ Neo and pairing it with Intel, right? Neo is meant only for Ryzen. It’s not suitable for other platforms. You might face stability problems if you try to use it with Intel. Maybe the issue is that you’re using a Neo version of Trident-Z. If you really want to connect it with an Intel system, consider using a different version instead. That could be a useful takeaway.
I understand, but there could be stability concerns I haven't mentioned. It doesn't mean it won't work with Intel, right?
If uncertain, you can return your Ram or update your BIOS. Easy.
If I were you, I’d consider Trident-Z Non NEO. It might be a marketing move, but I want to confirm compatibility with my setup. Check the manufacturer’s website for your motherboard and look at the support section—there’s usually a detailed list of compatible RAM options.
